(SHE, HER, HERS)
I take an integrative approach to counseling, providing culturally sensitive, client-centered, inclusive, and resiliency/trauma-informed care. Methods utilized can include:
Integrating these methods with Embodied Polyvagal and Somatic Practices connects the mind and body, providing whole-person healing.
Identifying and building upon an individual’s character fosters resilience and inner growth based on their unique lived experiences. Each client is an expert on their needs, desired transformations, and level of engagement. We focus on building individual strengths through collaboration and co-regulation to achieve mutually determined treatment goals. I believe sustained change comes about through self-awareness. Engagement in therapeutic interventions between the client and counselor can result in pivotal empowerment and transformation.
Curiosity, choice, compassion, understanding, consent, and a desire for healing through ending suffering and promoting positive changes underlie everything in our collaborative work!

I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling, specializing in service provision within LGBTGEQIAP+ community populations, from Bowling Green State University (1992). I completed my postgraduate supervision in a multidisciplinary private practice in Perrysburg, Ohio, practicing evidence-informed treatment approaches.
I am currently applying for my Colorado LPC licensure through endorsement with my LPC licensure from Ohio, which will allow me to apply for the Counseling Compact, an intrajurisdictional legislative agreement (37 participating states and the District of Columbia) allowing counselors to practice across state lines in person or via telehealth, eventually approving a privilege to practice to provide professional counseling services to clients and continuity of care within any of the participating states when clients relocate and/or travel (anticipated date for Counseling Compact to issue intrajurisdictional privilege to practice will be in the Summer of 2025).
I am a certified HIV+/AIDS Counselor by the American Red Cross and the Medical University of Ohio. I have completed Complex Trauma Training and group supervision highlighting Integrated Post-Traumatic Skills and Interventions for therapists, and I am working towards my Clinical Trauma Professional I & II (CCTP-I & II) Certification and Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy Certification (ISTT).
I am a professional member of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and the Colorado Counseling Association (CCA). I belong to the Association for Multicultural Counseling & Development (AMCD) and the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, & Gender-Expansive Identities (SAIGE), two divisions of the American Counseling Association (ACA).
Before opening my private practice, I worked as a Regional Admissions Officer, Assistant Dean of College Admissions, Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II, and Behavioral Intervention Specialist.

“Julia is a heat-seeking missile, for sure. She quickly identifies the source of the pain and offers support and tools for working with a myriad of complex issues.
I am thankful every day that I am this fortunate in life to have such an outstanding human being to guide and mentor me in my recovery from addiction and trauma.
I feel the safest I have felt for a really long time in Julia’s hands, which offers me tremendous hope for my bright future!”
"When engaging in therapy with a stranger, establishing rapport and trust is the hardest part for me. Feeling safe anywhere is challenging, let alone in a setting of talking about my mental health with a complete stranger. However, Julia didn't feel like a stranger beyond the first meeting. Her organized thoughts, mindful approach, and empathetic nature made me comfortable right away and balanced with her direct nature; I never worry about what she is thinking. She has a unique ability to create a therapeutic environment in which safety and acceptance are a given, but not at the expense of actual healing and help. As someone with deep, complex trauma issues, I am grateful to have found in Julia a space in which healing is taking place for me faster and more effectively than I would have ever hoped for or expected."
"Julia, as my counselor, has been a key component of my recovery journey, as her expertise and guidance have allowed me to discover hidden sources of my addictive habits.
She goes beyond traditional therapy, involving active listening, meditation, coaching, and personalized parts work sessions, addressing all facets of my life, including addiction, family, marriage, relationships, and work. Her approach has led to personal growth.
Julia's dedication and comprehensive support have truly made a difference in my recovery journey."

I am professionally committed to obtaining education and understanding essential issues regarding the nature of diversity related to age, arrest/conviction record, background, class, color, culture, disability status/accommodation needs, ethnicity, family configurations, gender identity and expression, housing status, migration status, language, marital status, medical condition/s, national origin, personal lived experiences, political affiliation/beliefs, race, relationship status, religious beliefs, sex, sexual orientation and expression, size, socioeconomic status, substance use, past traumatic experiences, and veteran status in our client-counselor or provider relationship as well as relationships with affiliates/partners/stakeholders.
Diversity and inclusion are my values and passions. I desire to bring about a more equitable and just world, recognizing that many systems we live within need a radically powerful reset due to cultural, economic, educational, gender, political, and societal systematic levels of privilege, oppression, and/or displacement.
We can work collaboratively towards the
democratization and decolonization
of counseling and healing together!
Colorado Springs stands on the traditional homeland and unceded historical territory of many Native American/Indigenous Nations, including, but not limited to, the Apache, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, and the Kapuuta and Mouache bands within the Nuuchiu Nation.
I honor the ancestors, animal medicine, land, people, traditions, and wisdom of these Native American/Indigenous Nations communities, honoring my childhood ally and imaginal lifelong mentor, Mr. Concha, a Navajo elder who just happened to be by school bus driver for many years. His shared stories of ancestors, animal medicine, family, land, people, traditions, and wisdom instilled in me and have always informed me as an individual collectively, politically, and professionally by seeing the world through the lens of interconnection.
InnerVision Resources, LLC's foundational values are accountability, collaboration, diversity/inclusivity, excellence, innovation, and integrity.
These values guide InnerVision Resources, LLC's trauma/resilience-informed, client-centered purpose and embodied individual and collective (local, national, international) practices:
Accountability being responsive to those served, managing donated resources according to the commitment to provide equal access to quality services and products, and emphasizing trust, openness, and honesty in all communications and relationships.
Client-Centered acknowledging the client is the best “expert” in their feelings and self-understanding and knowing that through non-directive active listening and being witnessed by an empathetic, authentic provider within a comfortable, non-threatening, and supportive environment can be much more beneficial in the transformational healing process.
Collaboration identifying and developing personalized plans for the client's desired transformations and healing outcomes is essential for determining the level of attention and resources they need. Seeking affiliates/partners/stakeholders with shared goals to form stronger partnerships, producing more substantial outcomes for individuals and their collective communities.
Diversity/Inclusivity providing equal access to all services and products for various demographics while gaining education and understanding about the issues faced by diverse community populations. Diversity/Inclusion are the primary focus of continuing education and an essential aspect of serving and supporting marginalized communities. This commitment highlights the importance of democratizing and decolonizing counseling and collaborative healing. All employees and collaborative affiliates/partners/stakeholders will prioritize diversity and inclusivity, ensuring everyone feels valued, involved, and respected for their differing viewpoints, ideas, perspectives, and experiences.
Embodied Practice incorporating mindful movement and creative activities that encourage letting go of judgment as well as regulate the nervous system. These activities, focusing on vagus nerve stimulation, allow participants to balance their nervous system states and intuitively become more aware, enhancing the relationship between the body and mind in the present moment.
Excellence involves achieving and maintaining high-performance standards and a consistent commitment to quality through regular ongoing strategic planning.
Innovation never settles for the status quo, encouraging initiative and creativity in all business activities, fostering an environment open to new ideas, and promoting mastery of new skills, topics, and areas of knowledge while maintaining long-term visionary perspectives.
Integrity requiring adherence to the highest professional and ethical standards, placing genuineness and responsibility at the forefront of all business activities, and never asking anyone to compromise their integrity in any business-related actions.
Trauma/Resilience-Informed: Understanding and supporting individuals who have experienced past traumas and toxic stress involves continually applying trauma/resilience-informed foundational principles. This practice is essential within client relationships and throughout organizational culture. By prioritizing a welcoming experience, ensuring transparency in policies and procedures, and building trustworthy and empathetic relationships, clients feel empowered to have agency and consent in decision-making, embracing cultural considerations and strength-based practices while avoiding re-traumatization.
