"You might have feelings of shame, unworthiness, or helplessness. Perhaps you feel plagued by anxiety or believe that you don’t belong in this world. Or, you might use food, alcohol, or drugs to disconnect from or numb yourself to the pain....it is important to know that you are not alone."

CERTIFIED CLINICAL TRAUMA PROFESSIONAL FRAMEWORK:

I offer an integrative, culturally sensitive approach to therapy, healing, and consulting/speaking that prioritizes client-centered, trauma-informed care.

With a deep understanding of how past experiences shape both the mind and body, my goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore, heal, and cultivate long-term well-being.

Therapeutic approaches I integrate:

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS): Helps explore the inner dynamics of the Self, fostering integration and harmony among all parts of the psyche.

  • Mind/Body Centering & Mindfulness: Cultivates present-moment awareness, promoting relaxation, mental clarity, and emotional resilience.

  • Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapy (ISTTP): Works with deeper layers of healing by releasing trauma stored in the body and supporting nervous system regulation.

I also incorporate techniques from Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which focuses on how trauma manifests physically. This approach helps clients process and release unresolved trauma through movement and increased body awareness. Embodied Polyvagal and Somatic Practices also play a crucial role in regulating the nervous system, reducing stress, and fostering resilience. These practices are especially effective in alleviating the impact of complex trauma on memory and identity, helping to heal fragmented experiences and restore a grounded sense of Self.

At the core of my work is the belief that every client is the expert of their own journey. Together, we co-create a personalized plan tailored to your strengths, lived experiences, and aspirations. Compassion, curiosity, choice, and consent guide our therapeutic relationship, ensuring that healing is collaborative, respectful, and rooted in mutual understanding.

My goal is to help you alleviate suffering, build resilience, and create sustainable change aligned with your vision for the future. By focusing on Self-awareness, co-regulation, and empowerment, I am dedicated to supporting you in achieving lasting transformation and meaningful growth.

"The process of decolonizing mental health care seeks to find healing, meaning, and connection through culturally–affirming practices. We decenter mental health care away from the dominant White, hetero-normative, patriarchal, gender-binary narrative."

"Most.... [counselors] treat the mind as disembodied, a phenomenon with little or no connection to the physical body. Conversely, physicians treat the body with no regard for the mind or to emotions. But the body and the mind are not separate, and we cannot treat one without the other."

Testimonials....

"When engaging in therapy with a stranger, establishing rapport and trust is the hardest part for me. Feeling safe anywhere is challenging, let alone in a setting of talking about my mental health with a complete stranger.

However, Julia didn't feel like a stranger beyond the first meeting. Her organized thoughts, mindful approach, and empathetic nature made me comfortable right away and balanced with her direct nature; I never worried about what she was thinking.

She has a unique ability to create a therapeutic environment where safety and acceptance are a given, but not at the expense of actual healing and help.

As someone with deep, complex trauma issues, I am grateful to have found in Julia a space in which healing is taking place for me faster and more effectively than I would have ever hoped for or expected."

"Julia, as my therapist, has been a key component of my recovery journey, as her expertise and guidance have allowed me to discover hidden sources of my addictive habits.

She goes beyond traditional therapy, involving active listening, meditation, coaching, and personalized parts work sessions, addressing all facets of my life, including addiction, family, my marriage, relationships, and work.

Her approach has led to personal growth.
Julia's dedication and comprehensive support have truly made a difference in my recovery journey."

"... [Julia] has demonstrated outstanding initiative and creativity in her dedicated work serving students within the schools and community. She seeks out, advocates for, and assists in developing multiple programs, which have resulted in meaningful, safe, and orderly learning environments where students have choices and participate actively in their learning.

Moreover, she seeks out the necessary resources that children and their families need to benefit from these programs. As a child advocate, Julia holds high academic, social, and character expectations for all students, and she strives to ensure that all adults who work with and impact the lives of children also do so in a healthy manner.

She prepares thorough and detailed behavior contracts, behavior intervention plans, functional behavior assessments, and manifestation determinations… Moreover, Julia always models a high-level, ethical, and confidential practice at all times."

".... As a counselor and supervisor for over 30 years, I know what it takes to be able to handle the stress of owning and managing my private practice.

Further, I am fully aware of the challenges involved in keeping abreast of the latest research/knowledge base in order to continue providing clients with the excellence in care that they deserve and expect.

I believe you have what it takes to continue on your positive path to [LPCC] licensure. You possess the necessary qualities to meet the needs of a diverse client population...."

“Julia is a heat-seeking missile, for sure. She quickly identifies the source of the pain and offers support and tools for working with a myriad of complex issues.  I am thankful every day that I am this fortunate in life to have such an outstanding human being to guide and mentor me in my recovery from addiction and trauma.

I feel the safest I have felt for a really long time in Julia’s hands, which offers me tremendous hope for my bright future!”

" 'There is a light in this world, a healing spirit that is more powerful than any darkness we may encounter.  We sometimes lose sight of this force when there is suffering, too much pain.  Then suddenly, the spirit will emerge through the lives of ordinary people who hear a call and answer in extraordinary ways.'

These are Mother Teresa's words, which I would like to use to express my soul-deep gratitude for the extraordinary healing journey I have been on with Julia.

Thank you for your compassion and understanding, which have created a desirable healing transformation.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT:

Colorado Springs is situated on the traditional homeland and unceded territory of many Native American and Indigenous Nations, including the Apache, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Comanche, Kiowa, and the Kapuuta and Mouache bands of the Nuuchiu Nation.

I honor the ancestors, animal medicine, land, people, traditions, and wisdom of these Native communities. I also acknowledge the teachings and guidance of my childhood ally and lifelong imaginal mentor, Mr. Concha, a Navajo elder who served as my school bus driver for many years. His stories about his ancestors, family, land, and traditions, along with his teachings on interconnection, have deeply shaped both my personal and professional life. Through his wisdom, I learned to see the world through a lens of unity and shared knowledge, a perspective that continues to guide my work and worldview today.

  • Trauma/Resilience-Informed: We apply trauma/resilience-informed principles to our work, understanding the impact of past trauma and toxic stress. This approach is fundamental in our client relationships and organizational culture. By prioritizing a welcoming, transparent, and empathetic environment, we empower clients to make informed choices and engage in decision-making with agency and consent. We focus on cultural considerations and strength-based practices while avoiding re-traumatization.

These foundational values form the bedrock of InnerVision Resources's mission and vision, and help to support individuals and communities in their healing and transformation while striving to create a more just and inclusive world.
